  • 2 fennel bulbs cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 red onion. sliced into rings
  • 1 can Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • sea salt to taste


  1. Saute fennel in olive oil on medium heat until soft, about 4 minutes
  2. Add red onions and saute an additional 3 minutes
  3. Add beans and stir to warm
  4. Sea salt to taste.


The calorie count can be reduced by using 1/2 a can of beans, saving the other half for a different recipe. Using a olive oil spritzer will also cut the calories. Extra virgin olive oil contains 120 calories per tablespoon.
