Asian Kale Salad

This is a kale salad with an asian flair. Much like the flavor of seaweed salad, the flavor of toasted sesame seed oil and tamari make this a simple and tasty side dish.

This salad tastes better if it is made 12 hours prior to serving. This allows the flavors to mature and develop. You can always add a little extra sesame oil or tamari to taste before eating.


  • 4 cups chopped kale, spines removed
  • 6 large brussel sprouts
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Dressing:
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons tamari
  • 2 table spoons canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil


  1. Place the kale in a large bowl.
  2. Finely chop brussel sprouts and add to the kale.
  3. Add sesame seeds.
  4. Make dressing separately, adding vegetable oil, rice vinegar, tamari and toasted sesame oil.
  5. Add a pinch of salt.
  6. Pour over salad.
