Turmeric/Curcumin

Turmeric/Curcumin

If we had to choose one herb with the most health benefits, it would be turmeric. Turmeric is a strong antioxidant. It protects the liver and reduces inflammation in the body. This spice originates in India and is used in traditional Indian cooking. It gives the yellow color to Indian curry. It has a mild but spicy flavor that balances the other spices found in Indian curry.

Turmeric has a profound effect on the digestive system and enables us to absorb nutrients more readily.

Turmeric protects the liver from toxins in the environment. It lowers cholesterol, aids in bile secretion and is helpful in treating stomach ulcers by protecting the lining of the stomach. Turmeric is a potent anti-inflammatory which works by cooling the inflammation in the body. It is particularly helpful for inflammation caused by arthritis.

Smokers should use turmeric to protect the lining of their lungs.

Curcumin is the important active ingredient in tumeric. It is however, poorly absorbed into the bloodstream in its natural state. We have researched various forms of curcumin (and hope you do as well!) and found that it is very important to get this valuable spice from a reputable source. There are two types of curcumin that are well absorbed by the body (bio-available).

Meriva is a patented formula of curcumin. It is 29 times more bio-available than curcumin in its natural state. This is the type of curcumin that we recommend you use and it is available at Fairfax Associates in Medicine or any of our seminars.

The second type of curcumin that is bio-available is BCM-95.

Turmeric can be used topically and orally for amazing health benefits.
